SCSI connectors

See original note below.

I have had great luck with the Trantor parallel-to-SCSI
model II last year connecting a Toshiba T4400C to a cd-rom
drive under DOS/windows. I have no reservations about
reccommending TRANTOR. On the other hand, just before
buying my thinkpad, I tried (ie bought) a Marlin/SyQuest
bernoulli disk drive with a parallel-to-SCSI adapter and
it didn't work at all. The company admitted that the power
supply in the drive wasn't up to task and offered to upgrade
it. I had the product less than 24 hours, 4 of which
reading their manual, following their instructions, calling
them, and otherwise wasting my time. I had lost confidence
and returned it. Bottom line for me: I would use Trantor
before others.
One problem with using parallel port adapter is your
printer access may not work despite the 'pass-thru'. Pass
thru typically does not support bi-directional transfer
which laser printers now take advantage of.

Has anyone out there tried attaching SCSI devices to a TP750 without
buying the docking station. I am looking at an ad for something called
the Trantor connector. It attaches to the parallel port, and is supposed
to work with SCSI CD-Roms, hard disks, tape drives, etc. Is this likely
to be true? Would it be better to use a PCMCIA SCSI adapter card? Is
the TP750 a SCSI system, and does it matter for this purpose?
Any advice would be appreciated.
