Another TP750-OS/2 bug?

John,

I am not surprised. I know of several problems
with the SVGA video drivers in OS/2. I also know
effective workarounds for several. It would be helpful
if the 750FAQ was released (before it is obsoleted by
bios and driver upgrades, we hope) or just release
the list of video driver oddities and work arounds.
For example:

    1. In OS/2, DOS box applications that scroll their
text screens directly dont always refresh correctly.
Examples include Norton Commander and FastLinx.
Solution: they work find in full screen (ALT/Home)
and are repaired by cycling thru full/screen.

    2. In OS/2 running OS/2 for windows (users),
if you leave the full screen windows desktop for the
OS/2 desktop, upon returning to WIN/OS2's desktop,
your screen is frequently a mixture of desktops and
sometimes your system font is gone (menu bars etc
are not visible).
Solution: I wrote a windows program that refreshes
the screen and reloads the font. Apparently, no one
else has this problem.

    3. In IBM DOS 6, after you install OS/2 for windows,
you may not be able to run any dos boxes in DOS/Win 3.1
becaused of an invalid version number. It's coming
from the VIDEO DRIVER. You can edit the 386Enh section
as I've previously listed here. (It's a few lines with
comments). IBM confirmed this problem.

All in all, the video driver is smart and effective.
These problems are just growing pains and haven't kept me
from doing any work, except for the time they've killed
trying to figure out what to do about them.
