serious problems with PortReplw/PCMCIA

Hi, fellow netters!

I turn to you since IBM have not been able to solve the problem decribed below
in three months!.

I have seriuos problems in using TP750 connected to external monitor
and ethernet through the PortReplicator w/ PCMCIA. The problem
is an alternating wave pattern on the external monitor, which
is really disturbing. The problem seems to exist always when
the computer feeds current to the ethernet PCMCIA card in the
PortReplicator.

The wave pattern is moving slowly and alternating the direction.
Depending on the monitor and refresh rates used the wave front is
either horisontal or diagonal across the screen. Monitor resolution
affects the distance between wave tops. Its about 4mm at 640x480
and 2mm at 1024x768. The refresh rate seems to somewhat
affect the appearance.

I have replaced every part I can imagine. I have tried three
different port replicators, five different PCMCIA cards, four
TP750s of which two were TFT and two mono. At least two
transformators have been tested. The only thing that affected
the wave pattern is the change of the PortReplicator, but only
by making the pattern slightly different.

IBM lab claims that they are unable to reproduce
the bahavior -- I never fail.

Is there someone on the net who is using a TP750 with external
monitor and IBM PCMCIA ethernet card (I use the coax variant,
but it does´t matter) connected to the PortReplicator?. I want
to know if there excist a configuration where this problem does´n
show up. [If the PCMCIA card is connected to the TPs own slots
the problem is (almost) invisible. I´m writing this message with a TP350
with a PCMCIA ethernet connected -- without any interference]

Sorry, this become too long but I wanted to explain my
trouble thoroughly.

Thanks in advance,
