Re: Linux (and hello)
Hi,
Just let me give my SCO comment on this topic (I really don't like
this role, and I would prefer to ran a SYSVR4 on my TP, but for now
SCO is THE UNIX coice if you want a *UX without any kernel hacking or so).

Well, I recently installed SCO ODT 3.0 (SCO UNIX 3.2.4.2) using my
docking station and an adaptec 1542C SCSI controller (yes, I know about
the integrated SCSI in the docking station, but it took about 6 weeks to
get the right SCSI cabel for this ... 60-pin IBM connector).
You need the SCO EFS 130 (one floppy disk via FTP from ftp.sco.com)
which will give you the IBM support for various IBM hardware
(including MC architecture).
SCO supports only 640x480 with standard VGA and 16 colours. Then I got
XFree2.1 and with that installed, I can use 1024x768 with 256 colors on
my external monitor without any problems.

Yes, with SCO you can use suspend and hybernation without any problem
(I tried it several times). Even no problems with disk change etc,
support for 2.88 MB floppy. And of course you can switch the processor
speed with FN+F11 if you like.

No problems with SCO.
As I said before, I really don't want to push SCO. All I want to say is
that it's possible to ran *IX on the TP without all the problems
you encountered trying linux, 386BSD, etc. ...
