755C first impressions

I just took delivery of a 755C from Rockwell Computers in NYC (which is an
authorized dealer, they had it in stock).

I paid about $5400 for the base machine with a 170MB drive

I added a 32MB card ($2400, which is a bit high, but I really didn't feel
like running around, and preferred to get a package from the dealer)

I added an 810MB hard disk ($1885, which I think is a fairly reasonable
price, I have seen much higher quotes).

The disk and memory were not in stock, but arrived overnight, so I got it
the next day.

The TFT is pixel perfect, which is nice, my previous 750C had two bad
pixels. Of course pixels can go bad, so we will see.

By the way, the 810 M drive arrived with a little rubber bumper that needs
to be installed on a 750 or earlier machine to minimize disk vibration. SOunds
like it might be an idea to install this rubber bumper on earlier machines
regardless.

Very nice machine. More than twice the speed of the 750C, and all seems to
be working fine. Same batteries as the 750C, don't know enough to comment
on battery life yet.

Does anyone know what the story is on the 100MHz upgrade for this machine?

Incidentally, my information is that IBM is not shipping machines with the
810M drive installed, so I have ended up with an extra 170MB drive from
this transaction!
