tp360 + os2w3 + gcc + gdb + emacs + ..

hi,

i intend to install gcc, gdb, latex, ghost.., emacs over to os/2w3.

1) what is the system requirement to have all this and still run "respectably"
on an IBM TP360 notebook?
ie. RAM, disk space, degradation of performance, not up and running most of
the time, incompatibilities with w3, swap space etc.
    spec: 12Mb RAM, 340 Mb HD, 386sx33sl

2) how close does os/2w3 emulate the look-and-feel of the UNIX environment?
ie. background, foreground tasks, etc.

3) is it simple to work between UNIX and os/2w3 environments without m/any
portability issues (when using the compilers)?
ie. at work i use an IBM RISC/6000 410 for development.

4) would it be better to have slackware (linux) w/o X stuff as well as os/2w3
+ the compilers?

TIA.. cheers,
