unix on tp

I have a tp755cs and would like to install unix of any flavor.
linux or commercial (as long as it's not too expensive).

is there anything that will install on my tp and also recognize my
ethernet card?

also, anyone know the number of sigma data (or whatever the name is)
that sells harddisks for tp's ?
