Anyone have linux+syquest (scsi) working correctly?

I recompiled the kernel w/ the scsi support for the adaptec 154x 
adaptor.  Linux's fdisk still cannot open the /dev/sda1 (the syquest).  
I'm using linux + my tp750c + my dock II + my syquest 270 Mb set at scsi 
ID 0.  Anyone have a precompiled kernel?  thanks.
