Patience, patience. I thought that the current (okay, second to current --
it is, after all, finals time) incarnation of Linux had problems with
X11R6 and doesn't officially support it yet.
But yes, Linux is a recurring subject and I see I had better make a
whole section in the FAQ dedicated to Linux hacking! ;)
