External Battery for TP Family?
I've seen some external batterys for Macintosh PowerBooks and PC notebooks
such as the Toshiba T4800. The Toshiba one was a thin, hard plastic
enclosure approximately 8"x10" by .5" thick. You could set the Toshiba
notebook PC,on top of the battery, then connect the battery power output to
the computer power input. If you were on an airplane or somesuch, you
could just leave the battery in your briefcase and run the power cord from
the battery to the notebook on your tray-table or lap. Do similar batterys
exist for the IBM ThinkPad? Does anybody have any experience with BTI's
external battery for Toshiba
notebooks or similar ones?
These batterys were originally available exclusively in the Mac world for
PowerBooks and Duo's. There were three suppliers: Technoogin, VST and
BTI. Now I see BTI is offering several models for PC/Windows machines.
These are very THIN, lead acid batterys that supposedly will add 3-8 hours
to the life of the notebook battery. Seems to me that it would be great
for travel .. and the thinness of the battery makes it ideal for carrying
in your briefcase.
Anybody have any knowledge of these?
