Help with XFree-3.1 and Windows

I wonder if someone managed to get XFree-3.1 server running on
a Thinkpad model 360 (CSE). It's now been two days that I battle
with the XF86Config file with no success. So I switched back to
XFree-2.1, the script is easier to configure. If I use the standard
XF86_SVGA, I have problem with the screen being partially duplicated.

I remembered of someone in Switzerland (sti) which patched the X11R5
server to run on Thinkpads. So I retrieved its server along with its
xconfig file. This time the screen is not duplicated, but if I use a
virtual desktop of 1024x1024 (360CSE has got 1Mb of video RAM), I have
redraw problems. Using twm and moving windows leads to serious redraw
problems.

Some people have sent their Xconfig file for X11R5 and X11R6 on
various newsgroup or even in this mailing list. So I wonder If they
did encounter such problems.

I have also had problems under DOS/windows. I have connected
a multisync monitor (capable of 1024*768 non-interlaced) to the
external VGA port. Then I reconfigure windows (windows installation/configure
system) using the WD... in 1024*768 small fonts. Then I restarted
Windows. The result was that I still was in 640*480 mode, though I have
configured the system through the VESA.exe command to support extra
frequence range for external monitor.

Does anybody have the solution to these video problems ???

Thanks.
