I seem to remember my poweron password mysteriously just "disabled itself" on
a couple of occasions, but it wasn't anything to do with hibernation. If I
remember correctly, I got a hardware error on bootup (didn't note the number)
and simply switching off and on again appeared to clear my bootup password.
