Given that the drive is just a 2.5 drive and there is no additional 
electronics, that's gotta be a load of hooey. Probably there's a bit or 
something set when the password is installed that the laptop checks for. 
It can't be stored on the computer because it has to keep the drive safe 
on OTHER computers.

There may be sufficient encryption on the thing to protect it (doubt it) 
but there's no doubt in my mind you could pop the case and make it drive 
2 on a desktop and reformat it.
