MIDI port options

One of the things I gave up (and what I miss most) in going from a 755CD to
a CE was the built-in MIDI I/O port.  I'd like to get this functionality
and am wondering what my options are.  Can anyone comment on whether there
are working MIDI<->X converters, where X is the ThinkPad's:

        * serial port
	* parallel port
	* PCMCIA slot

I don't even know if such devices exist for the last two.  Presumably, the
appropriate drivers need to come with such a unit.  Anyone have any direct
experience with external MIDI ports on ThinkPads?
