All too true. Speaking only as an ex-IBMer, before I left they
had vended all the level 1 support jobs (except management) out
to temp firms.. It's quite possible any more that the person
you get on the phone may never have seen the hardware or software
that you talk to them about. And it's as true on PCs as it is
on the top of the line mainframes...
