Re: DIMMs and DIMM adapters (755cd)
">According to my IBM information (the IBM Configurator, supplied to
dealers), there is a 16MB IC DRAM module (IBM # 66G5109)and also a 16MB DIMM
module (84G2153). To install one or two DIMM modules also requires the DIMM
memory adapter (84G2151). A maximum of 40 MB may be installed. It would
appear that if you want to add more than 16 MB RAM, then the DIMM memory
adapter is required, although my information is not clear as to whether IC
and DIMM modules can co-exist in the same machine."
That may be true if you stick with IBM memory, but you can certainly get
a 32 meg DRAM card (I have one in my 755C, which I have had since just
after they appeared), and it works fine. So that's the best way to go
if you want 40 megs total.
Now I believe, but have not been able to confirm, that there are 32 meg
DIMM
modules, allowing a max memory of 72 megs.
