the power PC is MUCH faster than the PEntium for floating-point. The
Pentium performance on FPT is, for the first time in an Intel chip, within
hailing range of reasonable RISC performance, but still not great!
FOr integer arithmetic, to a first degree of approximation, these
chips are clock speed for clock speed comparable. The disastrous
lack of registers on the Pentium can make quite a difference in
some cases, even in integer calculatoins, however.
