Infrared Data Transfer

Hi All,

My new TP755CX came with a program called TranXit which allows
infrared transfers between the TP755CX and any computer which 
is properly equipped.  The software manufacturer recommends and 
sells an Adaptec infrared adapter for my other PC ($99.00) to 
complete the infrared link.  It appears transfers at speeds up 
to 115.2K/sec are possible.

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience using infrared 
as a transfer medium and could comment on the pros and cons of 
using this link for transferring data between systems.  It seems
like a very convenient way of linking my TP with my main system.
The software looks very similar in capabilities to laplink and 
allows transfers via serial or parallel cable besides the infrared.

Any other manufacturers making IR adapters for this purpose?
