The Thinkpad you have may have a floppy drive with reversed disk change
sense.  You can try using "floppy=thinkpad" on the lilo boot prompt to
get around this problem.  The "floppy=thinkpad" is only supported in
later kernels (above 1.1.70 ish?) so it may not work.

Newer Thinkpads don't seem to have this problem anymore.  If the Slackware
you are booting doesn't work then either upgrade to a newer slackware
or there are some disks you can get with a kernel compiled with the
disk change sense reversed.
