The 750 was one of the last notebooks to use a real Intel 486SL.
The SL series had many power saving features, as well as certain
motherboard circuitry built in, all in the name of saving power.
Eventually, Intel decided that the power savings wasn't all that
great and they'd be better off keeping the same dies and working
in other ways to save power. The result is the "SL-enhanced"
series, which are basically low voltage 486SX/# and 486DX/# chips.
The latter are pin-compatible with their desktop cousins (as well
as themselves) and are upgradable. The 486SL only came in 25MHz
and 33 MHz versions and were discontinued before Intel came up
with the idea of clock doubling.
The 750 series processor isn't upgradable. Everything from the
755 on is (unless the design has the CPU soldered in or something).
