my experience:  I am using build 480 (and have a friend using build 490).
both of us have no problem with win95 and mwave.  the trick:  install win95
"on top of" your existing windows installation. win95 setup will then use
you 16bit windows 3.1 mwave drivers (they work fine under win95).

yes, they have uttered a sound.  in fact, they have officially announced a
28.8 modem software for mWave.  i think it was supposed to be ready back in
may.  rumor mills have said to expect it instead in june (i.e. this month!).
i expect to see it any week now.  check out URL http://watson.mbb.sfu.ca/ on
the web for all the official mWave news.
