Absolute "Dumb" battery

Has anyone had any experience with the Absolute brand nimh 'dumb'  
battery???

I just purchased one and i am having trouble getting the pad to charge  
it....it seems to charge for about 3-4 minutes then the battery status  
light flashes between amber and green and the charge indicator light  
goes out.......hmmmmm

any chance that there is a command / switch that lets the tp know its  
got a dumb battery......any thoughts/comments greatly appreciated
