That's what IBM tells people but if it is the similar to previous
processor upgrades then installing it is really a cinch.
I got the CPU upgrade for my old model 700 when the IBM PC Outlet was
dumping them for $99 (instead of the original $595). It came with a
nifty little chip removal tool and instructions on how to replace everything.
The thing about the 486SLC chip that the 700 & 720 used was that it was
so darn small. The 387SL math coprocessor took up about twice the area
of the 486SLC chip. The actual hardware change took about 15 minutes and an
additional 10 minutes spent reinstalling the reference and diagnostic
diskettes.
Installation might be different on the 755CE, but I was under the
impression that they had made things much easier to access on the newer
models than on the old 700/720 (eg. pop up keyboard).
