RE: How to install Windows95 - A few suggestions.....

As a follow up to the Windows95 install suggestions I posted
yesterday, there is one more important thing you should do BEFORE
installing Windows95 over your existing Windows.

Make sure to go into "Control Panel" under Windows 3.1 or WFWG 3.11,
click the "enhanced" icon, and change your permanent swap file to a
temporary swap file. Keeping your old permanent swap file could
confuse Windows95's install program. Preparing your system before
the install to make things as simple as possible will greatly
enhance your chances of a success on the first try.

I read something today I found amusing which I'd like to share
with you. I received a copy of IDG's new "Windows 95 Journal"
in the mail which appears to be an expensive monthly newsletter
dedicated to Windows95. IDG (PC World publisher) apparently sent
sample copies to "Windows Professionals" (anyone on Microsoft's
beta tester list). I guess it is suppose to be written by high
level Windows techies for other Windows techies. Well anyway,
they made the following comment about installing Windows95:

"Finally, if you expect Windows 95 to install over your finely
tuned Windows for Workgroups 3.11 installation without a hitch,
you should try this exercise. Stand 6 to 8 inches from a wall.
Thrust your head forward until it comes into contact with the
wall, and then pull it back. Repeat this action in a rapid
fashion until you feel you've had enough." ;-)

Like I said, "look before you leap". I'm sure you won't have
any problems.
