installing linux Slackware

I'm trying to install linux on my tp755cs with a 3com ethernet card.
which boot and root disk do I use?
I tried bare and scsi with no success.
when I'm asked to enter "parameters" after the root disk, what do I type in?

I'm using the color144 rootdisk.
