it gets worse.  any drive manufacturer will sell you a 540,000,000 byte drive 
as a 540 megabytes.  dos chkdsk will show you roughly 540,000,000 bytes.  fdisk 
will show you roughly 527,000 KB.  your cmos will show you roughly 514MB.  all 
accurate calculations considering they'll always show 1000s & always hide 
1024s.  i agree that it's deliberately deceptive.  older, smaller drives often 
have more honest labels.
