external CDROM with TP755CX

Hello,

I am planning to buy a NEC Multispin CDR-401 3XP portable CR-ROM with
APA-1460 SCSI2 PCMCIA adaptor to be used with TP755CX. Does anyone
had any experience with this combination? Also, I will install Linux 
on this Thinkpad later. Does anyone see any potential problem?
