Re: TP 701 & LINUX
Here's another 701C (actually, 701Cs) owner, running linux, and pleased as
punch. (Hey, do you suppose the 'punch' being referred to is of 'punch &
judy' fame? That is one smug puppy, after all - but not a very pleasant
one!) (... but i digress...-)
Re your questions - i got my xf86 config file from someone on this list,
and consequently didn't even try to fathom the intricacies, which i barely
had under control the other time i messed with linux. I'm sending a copy
of it, below, since i believe it does the 800x600 that you're seeking. (I
disabled the 800x600 mode in the copy i use, since i prefer to have things
contained on the screen, when possible, but with the option to move off,
via fvwm.)
Re the merits of the 701 w/linux - all in all, given what i spent, i don't
think i could have gotten a better arrangement for a portable system,
given my unix experience and priority on a fairly light, compact
machine...
