you cannot count on backward compatibility at any point. IBM makes ZERO
effort to accomodate previous machines if there is any respect in which
they can improve a new machine. FOr example, the batteries on the 760CD
are identical to those on the 755CX, except 1/8" thinner, and the old
ones do not fit. The old hard disks are just *slightly* bigger and do
not fit, and of course the memory is totally different.
