I have a 701CS and the main problem I have with the screen is
brightness. It looks fine in a dimly lit room, but in a bright office it
can be a strain. I think the brightness varies too. When the screen is
cold it is noticeably dimmer and has some streaks. It seems to warm up
during operation and right now it is warm and it looks great. It looks
perfectly "sharp" to me, but I haven't seen the TFT screen. Of course
there is trailing of moving images, but since I don't play video games
much it just makes the arrow harder to see when using the trackpoint. The
screen is a little directional - at 45 degrees it becomes difficult to
see. This hasn't been inconvenient for me, though. Considering I saved
$450 to $650, I am happy with my decision. The money I saved went into
16MB more memory.
