Linux on 170 MB drive

The 340 MB drive in my old TP750 finally gave up its ghost.
It'd been making a grind/whirring sound for almost 4 months
now, so it's no surprise to me.  Sounded like the bearing
wore out.

Anyways, I put the 170 MB drive back into the 750, but
couldn't get Linux to install properly on it.  I suspect
I need the hard drive parameters but don't have any way
to test this theory.

Has anybody gotten Linux installed on the Thinkpad 170 MB
drive?  Did you have to use any LILO parameters?
