I don't have experience with EZ drives, but I do have a parallel II Iomega
tape drive and a SCSI zip drive going. Some possibly relevant points:

It's nice to have both. The zip is great for moving old projects off of
your hard disk, while still maintaining access. The tape is great for
backing up the whole disk, including all your configuration files etc.
Good insurance against a disk crash. The bigger Jaz drive might be a
substitute for both, but I have no experience with this. I think the Jaz
only comes in SCSI.

The tape is slow and difficult to retrieve info off of but, at least under
warp, works in background while you're doing other things.

The zip drive is faster than a floppy, but way slower than a hard disk.
The parallel version should be even worse. Don't think of it as a
substitute for a larger hard disk. Zip drives are too small to backup your
hd, but you can back up your projects etc.

Iomega is so popular that they don't have to worry about customer service.
If you need tech info or an RMA number for repair, plan on 1/2 to 1 hour on
hold. Get a name and extension once you get through, because more than
once I have been cut off in transfer, forcing you to go through the whole
thing again. When you do get through, they tend to be helpful.
Fortunately, the hardware is pretty reliable. Having said that, I will
mention that my tape 250 is in for repair, and has been gone for two weeks
now :).

Good luck.
