IBM ThinkPad 701 modem question

Hi!

I have a ThinkPad 701CS. I read that the US models have a built-in modem,
but the European models do not. In the root directory of drive C:, there is a log file
telling that the modem on port com1 has been flash-reprogrammed (i.e.
completely disabled - there is no sign of any built-in modem support in the
Setup utility or elsewhere).
Contents of file C:\IBMLDR.LOG:
	Reflashing modem on COM1:
DO NOT stop this program until the Reflash is completed.
	Exiting program.

I would like to know if the modem hardware is still built into my ThinkPad
(there place where the phone jack would be inserted is closed and can not
be opened without opening the computer) and if it is maybe possible to
reactivate the modem.

Thanx in advance for any hint!
