As others have noted, the 360 series processors are surface-mounted
on the system board, making user upgrades infeasible.

However, there are a couple of third-party firms that will do the job
for you. I exchanged e-mail with a person at one of these firms, Leonard
at PEPsales@aol.com. You ship you machine to them, they take it apart
and replace the processor using their surface-mount rework requipment,
and then ship it back to you. Handy for 300 series owners, since the
standard warranty on these machines is only a year anyway.

I haven't taken this step with my 360Cs yet, although I've toyed with the
idea. My concerns are the extra heat and higher power requirements of the
DX4/100.

I'd be interested in hearing if anybody else has any experience with third
party upgrades. Of course, I'd prefer a nice 760, but it just won't fit
in my budget right now...
