JUNK EMAIL AD-SPAM ALERT AND POSSIBLE SOLUTION
Dear members of the Thinkpad lists,
I am sorry to burden you all with an off topic post to the list but I have a sneaking suspicion that
this information will be of interest to some, if not all, of you.
Over the last 7 or so days I have received 3 identical JUNK e-mail ad-spams from 3 different members of
AOL.com. All three of these spams were routed through the mail server at cs.utk.edu which coincidentally is
the home server of the Thinkpad mailing lists.
After speaking with the administrators at AOL I was informed that a copy of the offending e-mail should
be forwarded with an explantory note to tosemail1@aol.com (note the "one" before the @). I was assured that
appropriate action would be taken against the AOL clients at issue. (it is important to forward rather than
quote since forwarding displays the full header chain).
I assume that other members of the Thinkpad lists were hit with this garbage as well. I leave it to
you to complain or not. The three identical mailings I received bore the header information:

I am sorry to burden you with this, but we might be able to stop this type ad-spam from happening if we work
together.
Respectfully yours,
Bennett Feitell
