Thinkpad 701 Sound

As some of you may know, I recently had to do a reformat/reinstall
on my 701C. I've got a problem now with my sound system. In order to
use some games with each sound causing a system hang, I need to use
the Creative Labs Soundblaster drivers. To use these drivers, I have
to have my soundboard set as 0x220, irq 5 or 7, dma channel 0 or 1.
Unfortunately, the 701 is set at irq 10, which the drivers can't use.
In the BIOS set up screen, on the 3rd page, there is a dialogue fr
changing your irq settings. By going to the device and tabbing left
or right, it scrolls through various settings, different irqs and dma
channels. When I select one, it doesn't change! I always come back
to the same settings.
I called IBM, who recommended I download the new Audio Features
diskettes. I *have* the new diskettes, it's not the software, it's
the irq settings! How can I change the darn thing? DOOM, btw, is
having no problems, and I can get sound in Windows, but in this game,
which worked perfectly before the reformat, and has been reloaded from
a virgin disk, I get a little pause after every boom! and pow! Has
anyone successfully changed his/her irq assignments? How?
	Thanks in advance,
	Emanuel
