ED Sited - First Review
Well, at long last, the first real evidence of the existence of the new
Thinkpad 760ED has appeared in a "PC Wee"k comparative review, which
covers a number of other 133 MHz machines as well -- AST's Ascentia J50,
Compaq's LTE 5300, Dell's Latitude XPi P133ST, HP's Omnibook 5500, NEC's
Versa 6030H, and Toshiba's Tecra 720CDT. Comments on the 760ED are very
favorable (it beat all the competitors on the 16-bit and 32-bit CPUmark
tests), except for a serious overheating problem and a flimsy memory
expansion door.
The online version of this review can be found at:
http://www.pcweek.com/reviews/0603/03ast.html
Unfortunately, the web version does not include benchmark results, which
apparently do appear in the print version on page 67 (a reference appears
in the online text). In the interest of freedom of information, could some
kind "PC Week" subscriber please post the published benchmark results for
these machines?
Much thanks,
Dane
