The 701C/540 goes for about $2000 or so, and the memory for about $400.
I don't know if the warranty is transferrable, and that could be a
problem. If I needed another 701, I would offer $1750 for the machine, or
$2000 if I could actually see and use it before buying.
My current machine is a 701CS/720 which cost $1590, with a 16MB upgrade
costing $429. I feel lucky to have found such a good deal on the machine
(at Global Computer Warehouse in May or so).
