a month and a half is a LONG time in this field. In that month and a half
an entire new generation of thinkpads (the 760E models) has appeared, and
consequently all previous models lose another notchof value. Also memory
prices have plummetted in those 6 weeks, so the extra 8MB of memory is
worth perhaps $75-100 less. I really doubt you can get $700 today for
a used machine. I bet I can get an equivalent machine new for VERY close
to that (I don't see mono machines advertised, but you can usually pick
them up VERY cheap)..
To give an idea of how much prices fall, I bought two weeks ago a NEC
multi-media machine brand new that was in its time the first machine with
a 2X CDROM, absolutely a top of the line machine two years ago. It cost
me $299 complete (including everything except a monitor).
