I'm sure this is a stereo 1/8" phone jack, not an RCA connector.
Inputs are most likely bridging (about 10k impedeance) and probably
fairly sensitive as it accomodates microphone levels which are
quite low. That is, you may need to pad the outputs of a mixer
if that's how you plan to record (external mixer). Maximum input
level is probably around -10dBv (where 0dB = 0.7745 volts). Most
profesional sound gear have +4dB outputs thus 15dB pads would be
a good idea - these are a somewhat common item and not hard to find.
More padding may be needed depending on the crest factor of what
you're recording (ratio of peak to rms or average levels) - for
example very percussive music has high creat factor waveforms in
it. And this assumes when you switch to line level inputs -10dB
is not too much for the front end in the Thinkpad.
