Introduction

Hello,
I just subscribed to this list and thought I would introduce myself.
My name is Frank Peckham, and I bought a 701 about four months ago
when it seemed they were giving them away.

The specifics of the machine are:
Active screen
720 HD
24MB Ram
2 Ni-MH batteries
Docking Station
Panasonic 4x CD-Rom
Zip parallel port drive
Win 95

I didn't have any trouble putting win95 on it, even though I had read you
need to upgrade the bios. Bios is now BUTUS3M.

Modem was a little funky, but change intialization string and seems fine now.

Now it so happens that just before buying my laptop, I saw some Ni-MH
batteries at Comp USA for $9.95. At that price, I figured I'd use them
to run the lights on my bicycle, so I picked up two. Didn't do much with
them because I had no charger, but figured I could use the trusty car
charger/ if I was careful not to over heat them.
A month ago, however, my Mother in law sent some computer bits that had
been in a thrift shop, thought they might be useful. Turned out one was
a charger for TP700 batteries like the two I had, as well as a battery, a
power supply, and some sort of number pad with what looks like an over
sized phone cord jack for a connector.
Anyway, I though I could probably run my laptop off the TP 700 batteries
which have about twice the capacity of the 701 batteries but the same
voltage. I just need to make an adapter and I will be ready to go.
I don't suppose anyone has tried anything like this before?

Well anyway, I let you know what happens

-Frank
