Re: Oh Sh#% I dropped my ThinkPad!

Know the feeling. I dropped mine from about 5 foot on to the tarmac and did
much the same kind of damage (stupid Targa shoulder strap broke at the
join.... be warned).

I tried gluing the case together, but its a strange material (?) coated in
what is almost a Hamerite like black plastic paint so it wasn't that easy.
Best thing I did was to get some sort of plastic/metal glue which allows a
bit of movement (super glue is out) and remove some of the case paint so
that you get clean edges. This worked fine for a few weeks, but my company
sent it off to be replaced.

The replacement was for the front case part, a new floppy drive (mine bit
the dust too when dropped - aaaahhh) and to repair the latch on the CD that
would now pop open at any instant. Total cost was about £600 (English
Pounds) for the case and floppy and would have been another £200 apparently
to fix the CD latch (?????!!!!), so I swapped it for another one lying around.

I know how you feel. My deepest sympathies!
