Need help using a 755CDV w/an overhead projector

We recently purchased a thinkpad 755 CDV at work for use in
presentations.  On paper it sounds perfect--snap off the back of the
screen and lay it down on an ordinary projector.  Unfortunately, while
the quality of the laptop screen is excellent (both with and without the
backing), the quality of the projection is awful, very very fuzzy.  

Moving the screen closer and further from the projector doesn't seem to
help, even with the screen touching the platform of the projector it is
still too fuzzy to read ordinary type on the screen.  Does anyone have 
any experience with these lcd screens??

Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated...
