Good question, a lot of these upgrades (the mono to Color lcd upgrades
spring to mind) have been total vaporware and ended up being so expensive
that you were better off buying a new computer. The upgrades have new
part numbers as well.
I notice that IBM no longer gives prices in their product announcements,
was this because of foreigners seeing the US list price and complaining to
IBM about having to pay 30-50% more for the same model in their country?
