Various 755CD Quirks...
Hello subscribers,
I have a previously owned 755CD (Pentium) supplied to me
through my job, and I'm wondering if anyone has experienced
quirks like these:
NT 4.0 was impossible to install. It became clear to me that IBM's
NT3.51 drivers wouldn't cut it. Because of an apparent inability to
have the floppy and CD running simultaneously, I had to load the
NT files onto the HD and run NT from the existing FAT partition.
I am running Windows 95 under duress until IBM can catch up.
My old Y-cable which routes a full-size keyboard and PS/2 mouse
into a single mouse port is often undetected by Windows 95,
resulting in a "no mouse attached" message, because I''ve also
disabled the TrackPoint. Win95 usually detects the mouse
through the Y if I mouse around frantically before the desktop
appears. This is pretty much my biggest pet peeve for now.
I installed an additional 16MB SIMM, which confused the CPU for
a few startups. All I could think to do was switch the chips around
a couple times. This seemed to make it work, so I didn't ask any
questions.
I would really appreciate it if someone could answer some of
these questions:
Is FaxWorks Voice the only package that allows the 755CD to be
used as a speakerphone?
Does an external Floppy drive exist for the TP755?
Is Iomega considering a Zip drive designed to fit in the internal
floppy bay?
Is there a CPU upgrade available for the 755CD to take it past
75MHz?
Just the typical stuff...
Thanks,
