Re: Windows NT 3.5 on Thinkpad 701

Unless you're willing to live w/o virtually any TP features, I would not
install NT 3.51. NT 4.0 is a better choice but you're a little shy on
horsepower .... Try OS/2 or Win95. You'll be happier. If you were going to
NT for its stability, give OS/2 a look. It's a helluva lot more stable than
Win95 especially if you still have a lot of Win3.1 apps ...

Enjoy ...

Subject: Windows NT 3.5 on Thinkpad 701

I have in front of me a sealed box containing NT 3.5 and am contemplating
installing it on the 701. Actually, what I'm contemplating are the
trials and tribulations to be faced in installing and using NT. The IBM
web has a file of video drivers for NT3.5 for the 701 but nothing else
(there is stuff for other TPs but none of it ref's the 701).

Has anyone installed and still run this version of NT on a 701 and
willing to share the experience, esp. the problems and their solutions.

In case it matters the 701 is a CS/DX4/75 w/24M RAM and 400 meg of free
hard disk space and is currently running PC6.3/Win3.11 and I would like
to keep that around for awhile and be able to boot either system.

Thanks!
