Linux on 701C: "Unrecognized device ID"

Hi,

I'm running GNU/Debian Linux 1.1 with APM on my IBM ThinkPad 701C,
and it has been bothering me for quite some time that whenever I
switch virtual console, and whenever screen blanking occurs,
the kernel spews out the message:

apm_bios: set display ready: Unrecognized device ID

to the console and syslog.

Have anyone managed to get rid of this in a proper way? I.e., make
Linux recognize the 701C device ID or whatever it takes? Or, is
anyone running Linux on their 701C and not experiencing this problem?

Bye,
