Introduction/IBM/NT4.0

Hello. I'm new to this list and am a support person for laptops among
other things at our company. Supporting 720,750,755,and 760's. We buy
Thinkpads as we add more people to our sales force.

I agree that IBM has a problem with consistency between models. But
one very important thing has proven to be consistent in our case
(consistently good that is), and that is their support. I would be
interested to hear if other laptop mfgrs. are as good. Everytime I
have had to get a system repaired, they sent a shipping box to me
overnight, and had the system back to me in less than 5 days. No
hassles. I have always been able to get a support person on the phone
when needed too. No long hold times. That's very important to me.

One more note. I did a NT 4.0 install on a 760CD. Went much better
than expected, but definitely need more than 16mb. The
CD,modem,xj10bt ethernet card all worked fine. But a problem I
haven't solved, but really haven't worked on yet, is getting it to
play wave files. Any experiences on this?

Also, with 16mb installed, NT 4.0 took exactly 5 minutes to restart.
After I upgraded to 32mb it took around 2.5 or 3 minutes to restart.
Once it's booted, it's fairly decent to use. But could still use a
little more speed. I thought I read about a cache upgrade for the
760cd. Is it possible? What does it cost? Any other ideas?
     Thanks.
