Hello:
I recently purchased a used IBM 810MB HD to install in my
TP 360Cs. The model number is DVAA-2810, and the P/N is
85G8887. This will (hopefully) replace the Quantum Daytona
341 AT/S 340MB drive that I currently have installed.
The problem that I have been seeing is that, when I install
the DVAA-2810 in the caddy and boot up, I get an I9990305 error
code (cannot find startup drive). At first, I thought that
there may be a problem with the master/slave designation, but
I tried this both with the "standard" configuration and with
pin 46 (the right-most pin on the bottom of the drive) bent
down so that it does not go into the connector. In both cases,
the results were as above.
I have also noticed that pin number 25 seems to be missing.
This is not the case with the Quantum, and I just gave away
the 170MB IBM drive that originally came with the machine
(DHAA-2270), so I can't check on that one.
By the way, I am running version 1.20 of System Program
Services, which includes the fix for the 512MB drive size
barrier. I am also running Windows 95, with 20MB of RAM.
My questions are:
- has anyone been able to get the DVAA-2810 working on a TP 360
or similar machine - if so, what is the trick
- is it normal for pin 25 to be missing (I know that pin 20
is supposed to be missing)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Rob
