755cx & NT 4.0 & 800x600 @ 65536 colours?

Has anyone done this? IBM says to use the Trident drivers on the CDROM, but
that doesn't work for me. It gives me 800x600 @ 16 colours, which sucks...
Using the regular VGA drivers, I can get 800x600x256, which is *OK*, but I
want 800x600x65536. I used to have Win95 at 65536 colours, so I know its
not a machine hardware limitation... HELP!
